  Prologue

  7 years old

Muffled yelling seeps through my walls as I try to sleep. It gets louder and louder and I keep hearing thumps on the wall. I crawl from my bed and sneak to the door hoping no one hears me. I crawl down the hall and hide behind the couch.

“You tattooed my kid you stupid bitch!” Frank yells.

“She’s seven! She’s big enough!” Gina yells at him. “You tattooed mayhem on her!” he yells.

“Who fuckin’ cares! We named her Lunatic! She’s

screwed up anyways.” Gina says nonchalantly.

“She’s still a fuckin’ kid.” Frank growls!

“Whatever Frank! I’m fuckin’ out of here! I never wanted the little shit anyways! She was a mistake and so were you!” Gina screams.

I flinch. It hurts, but I knew she didn’t want me. She never had. I was the bane of her existence. If she wasn’t beating me, she was shoving me off on whoever would take me.

Today was one of the worst days of my life.

She had her friends hold me down and had ‘MAYHEM’ in all caps tattooed across the center of my chest. Anyone who knows me knows my Dad, and what he’d do to them for fucking with me.

Frank tosses her bags into the yard and yells, “Don’t bring your ass back here. I got a bullet with your name on it! Don’t come near my fuckin’ kid again!”

She yells over her shoulder, “I wouldn’t fuckin’ dream of it you piece of shit!”

He slams the door and turning, he freezes seeing me behind the couch.

“Come here Luna bug!” Frank says.

I climb to my feet and walk to him slowly with tears in my eyes. He wipes them from my eyes gently and lifts me to his lap. Leaning forward, he kisses my forehead. “Big girls don’t cry.” he whispers quietly. Taking a deep breath, I suck up every last tear.

“My girl, you’re going to come across people in this world who don’t like you, who don’t want you, who can’t stand you. People who want to hurt you and people who have bad intentions. As long as you remember that no matter what they do to you they can’t break you unless you let them, you will be ok! You my child are built to fight. To stand above everything. You are a Queen! I love you little Lunatic!”

I lay my head on his shoulder and whisper, “I love you more Daddy!”

  Chapter 1

  Ten Years Later

It’s day one of our senior year and like most kids our age we’ve waited for this day for most of our lives. Not because we are seniors, but because it is almost over. We wouldn’t have lasted this long in this piece of shit school, but the whole campus is afraid of the Kings of Mayhem. I’ve gotten in more fights and destroyed more property on these grounds than I have anywhere else. What can I say, I’m a people person. Not! People who know us call us the Queens of Chaos. We fight, race, and cause complete chaos everywhere we go. However, Frank is strict when it comes to me getting my diploma. I’ve screwed up well over a dozen times. He spends five minutes in the office and I’m right back the fuck where I started.

Let me tell you a little bit about the Queens of Chaos. We are the daughters of the Kings of Mayhem. My dad Frank is president of the MC. For those of you who don’t know what an MC is, what kind of fucked up rock are you living under? It’s a fuckin’ Motorcycle Club.

My Dad does all kinds of criminal shit, but that’s a story for a different day.

My best friend Ada Jade is Fitz’s kid. Fitz is the VP of the Kings of Mayhem. You could shorten her name to AJ or Ada if you wanted to piss her off, she hates insignificant nicknames. She has been by my side since we could walk. We’ve been getting in trouble together for as long as I can remember. The only thing that bitch loves more than me is her fuckin’ bike. A teal colored Yamaha YZF-R6. There’s no mistaking her rainbow-colored hair either. The bitch loves to stand out.

Then, there’s my girl Maddie Russo. Her dad is the major muscle in Mayhem. If you want something done, he’s your guy. Maddie is the same. In a fight she’s the first in and last out. I met Maddie when I was in kindergarten and she’s had my back ever since. The only thing she loves more than me is speed, and her purple Ninja ZX-6R gives her that.

Me? I’m Lunatic Marlow, better known as Luna. My mom was hooked on crack when she gave birth to me and after having me branded at seven, she ran out on me and my Dad. I learned at an early age that life isn’t fair. I haven’t cried since I was seven. Tears solved nothing and it doesn’t make the pain go away, so really what’s the point? I’ve been called heartless and I won’t deny it, I care about very little. The only thing that makes me feel alive is speed and fighting. My black Ducati 1199 Panigale is my baby. The only thing I love more than my bike is my Dad and well, lucky for me I don’t have to choose between the two.

Sitting on our bikes in the school parking lot, dreading walking into the hell hole that is Lux Island High, Maddie and Ada Jade finish up their cigarettes while I finish off a bottle of water and climb off my bike. I stretch and groan, “Might as well get this over with.”

  Ada Jade whines, “But why?”

I roll my eyes and say, “Because the Kings will kill us if we don’t get our fuckin’ diploma, otherwise I’d be anywhere but here.”

I start walking towards the school and they fall in behind me. Once we walk in the school, they fall in line beside me, moving down the hall like the force we are in one solid unmovable wall. Ahead of us, the student body parts like the red sea, recognizing the Queens we are.

Of course, we got the cheerleaders who are pretty brain dead and don’t have the sense to be scared, so they loiter close by rolling their eyes and popping gum mistaking themselves as the Queens of this school and not the other way around. Which is why most of our fights end up being between us and them. One in particular irks my nerves more than the rest. Jasmine is a fuckin’ joke, but she thinks she’s big shit. Of course, she’s not from around here and she’s pretty new, hence the reason she ain’t scared. She will be though; her days are numbered. She will be put in her place. And I’m looking forward to that day.

As we pass the football players Codie the quarterback winks at me and I roll my eyes. We fucked once and he thinks he’s God’s gift to women. He’s really not! Really not that great at all! Once we make it to my locker I throw my helmet in and slam the door shut, shoving my phone in my back pocket and leaning against the lockers while Ada Jade and Maddie throw their shit in their lockers keeping out everything they need. Across from me one kid nearly pisses his pants when my eyes land on him. I smirk as he jogs down the hallway to get as far away as possible. Good, I like it when people keep their distance.

“You fuckin’ bitch!” someone yells from behind me. I turn and I’m punched dead in my fuckin’ nose. My head snaps back and then
forward again. Blood dribbles down my chin and I grin as my eyes water.

  J fuckin’ El.

This bitch thinks I slept with her boyfriend at a party. To be completely fuckin’ honest with you I may very well have, but if I did it wasn’t memorable. I must say it’s pretty fuckin’ brave of her to come at me, guess that’s another bitch that needs to be put in her place. Maddie takes two steps towards her and I stop her.

“I got this.” I say quietly.

I grab J’El by the front of her shirt shoving her against a wall, grinning the whole time. I punch her in the kidneys, and she drops to the ground gasping for air.

She climbs to her feet coming at me again. I sidestep her, grabbing the back of her head, bringing up my knee, slamming her face into it causing her to stumble and fall to her back.

Her nose starts gushing blood and my grin widens.

I straddle her and growl, “Learn your place you stupid bitch,” and I punch her again.

The more I swing my fists the more excited I got. When I stand up there is blood dripping from my nose and splatters across my face. My fists are balled at my side and there are three of the hottest guys I’ve ever seen staring at me from the end of the hall when I look up.

“Incoming!” yells one of the kids in the hallway. I glance around the hall and my grin only grows when Principal Kerrigan and Mr. Broadway come rushing down the hall.

“What the hell is going on here?” Mr. Broadway asks, glaring at me with the blood dripping down my face. The Principal bends down checking on J’El as she curls up whimpering like the pathetic bitch she is.

I smirk and say, “It was an accident, you see J’El

tripped.... She’s really clumsy you know.”

Mr. Broadway grips my arm and starts towing me

  down the hallway.

I laugh and spit blood at him.

He smirks and says, “I can’t wait to fuckin’ get you out of here.”

Principal Kerrigan helps J’El down the hallway to the nurse’s station.

In the Principal’s office Mr. Broadway sits on the edge of the desk watching me and says, “How long do you plan on being a menace here?”

I can feel his eyes all over my body and I have to remind myself of the reason behind my madness.

I give him a wicked grin and get two inches from his face and say, “Until I don’t want to anymore!”

The Principal walks in and says, “Miss Marlow, what am I supposed to do with you?”

I grin turning to her and a laugh escapes my lips, “Does it look like I give a fuck? Kick me out and Frank will come and when he does, I will be right back in here causing even more chaos. So, it really does not matter what you do, the outcome will be the same. You do not have the balls to go up against the Kings. Besides, you just assumed I started it. Maybe she came at me first.”

Principal Kerrigan rolls her eyes and says, “Get yourself cleaned up and get to class Luna!”

I laugh walking out of the office.

  Chapter 2

Word is the newcomers who were staring me down in the hallway were the Lucian Boys from Lux Island Prep. I guess they got kicked out for causing some sort of riot. If they are who the gossip says they are, their fathers are in business with mine or maybe they were enemies. Who fuckin’ knows?

Ada Jade and Maddie are already in the cafeteria when I get there. The cafeteria is full of round tables with eight chairs each. Our table is the one in the far corner of the cafeteria and the tables around it tends to be empty. Ada Jade is sitting in one of the chairs facing the cafeteria instead of the table and Maddie is sitting in the chair to the right of her face the table.

I climb on the table between them propping my feet in the chair. I glance around the cafeteria and stop when my eyes land on Jasmine. I smirk when she is eyeing me with a frown on her face. Her time is coming, and the countdown has already begun. I lean forward, put my elbows on my knees and stare her down. She rolls her eyes and flips her hair over her shoulder.

“I’m just saying, I don’t chase no dick, but if it looked like that, a bitch might just powerwalk.” Ada Jade says grinning at Maddie.

Maddie smirks and says, “I can get on board with that.”

“What did I miss?” I ask, smirking at them both.

“Fuckin’ Bishop Lucian,” Ada Jade says smiling. “You got a little drool right there.” I say chuckling, pointing to the corner of her mouth and Maddie busts out laughing.

  Ada Jade just smiles.

I look across the cafeteria and see them sitting at a table on the other side of the dining hall. The three of them are staring back and the one in the center smirks. I lean back and spread my legs a little and lick my lips. His smirk grows before he turns his attention to what one of the guys beside him says.

Maddie laughs saying, “You couldn’t help yourself, could you?”

  I wink at her.

J’El walks in the cafeteria staring me down as she walks by. I smirk back at her, amused she still has the nerve.

“Looks like the little bitch can’t take a hint.” Ada Jade says loud enough for her to hear.

J’El falters then walks a little faster to sit with her friends.

The bell sounds to end lunch not long after that pathetic show. The class I have after lunch has one of the Lucian boys in it and he smiles at me. I ignore him and before class starts, he says, “You keep stripping me with your eyes and we might have to get out of here and see if you fuck like you fight!”

I smirk at him and say, “Baby I fight dirty, you couldn’t handle it if we fucked,” and walk away.

I could hear him chuckle behind me.

Lucky for the jackasses at this school the rest of the day was uneventful. I grab my helmet out of my locker and make a beeline for my bike. Halfway there I see a new car in the parking lot. Smirking to myself I pull out my blade from my back pocket and stab it into the tire leaving it there.

I’m sitting on my bike with a blow pop in my mouth waiting on Ada Jade and Maddie to come out. When they walk past the car and see where my blade has ended, they burst out laughing.

“Not even a full day and already got on somebody’s bad side. Tisk tisk tisk.” Ada Jade says as she joins me, swinging their legs over their bikes.

We wait around for them to come out to watch their reaction but, it was a major let down. I expected anger in waves. Nope! They look at it and smirk turning their attention directly to us.

I stare back with an “as if I give a fuck” look on my face. I spin around on my seat, starting my bike and shoot out of the parking lot with Ada Jade and Maddie following close behind me.

We pull into my Dad’s shop and he meets me at the door leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his wide chest. “How was school?”

“Lousy!” I say with a smirk on my face.

Frank looks from Ada Jade and Maddie then back to me and asks the only question he was concerned with, “How much shit have you gotten into today?”

Ada Jade and Maddie laugh out loud bending at the hips.

“Now Daddy, you know I’m an angel.” I say smiling sweetly at him or at least attempting to while fighting back a smirk.

Ada Jade and Maddie laugh a little harder if that is even possible.

“Come on Luna girl, what did you do? Hell, it’s the first day of school, you couldn’t make it one day. I know you did something; you didn’t call me Frank.” he says. “I mean aside from fighting the first hour of school, what did you do?”

My mouth drops open a little. Of course, that bitch called. I don’t answer, I pinch my mouth closed in a straight line.

He turns his attention on Ada Jade and Maddie. Their laughing comes to a halt and he takes a step towards them and they step back. “What did she do girls and don’t lie, I know she did something.”

Both their eyes dart to me and I groan because I know they are gonna rat me out. “Fine! I stuck my blade in some prick’s tire!”

His eyes fly to me and he says, “What
prick?”

I won’t look at him because he’s going to be pissed, “The Lucian Boys.”

  “WHAT? Which one?” he yells.

“Hmmm I don’t know. One of them! There are three.” I say quickly.

“It was Killian Lucian’s car.” Ada Jade added.

Frank’s eyes really start bugging out then. “Luna girl, that’s a fight you don’t want. Leave the boys alone!”

I smirk and quietly say, “Oooh but it’s a fight I want Frank!”

He gives me a death glare and says, “I give you a lot of freedom Luna, but you will leave them alone.” His tone told me to drop it, but I was having none of it.

My eyes snap from the ground to meet his glare with one of my own, “Don’t name your child Lunatic and brand them with Mayhem if you want them to be good little girls.”

He actually fuckin’ rolls his eyes. “Your mother stuck you with both of those, I wanted to name you Bambi, you know like the deer. Then she went and stuck Mayhem on you and you’ve been a little shit ever since then.” He says with a heavy sigh.

“Fuuccckkkk that! I’m not a fuckin’ Bambi!” I growl!

At this point I think Ada Jade and Maddie are going to die if they don’t catch their breath from laughing so hard. “Get fucked.” I growl at them.

“Just lay off of them for me baby.”

“Whatever.” I say walking away and grabbing a water from the fridge. “We’re going to the beach for a while, see you at home.”

He waves us off, “Stay out of trouble.”

Maddie says, “Good luck with that Frank!”

“Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! Get the hell out of my garage and just don’t fuckin’ kill anyone! You girls are going to be the death of me!” He says shaking his head.

  ***

We pull up at the beach and make our way down the path leading onto the sand with our bikes. There is a place surrounded by short logs laying on their sides for sitting and in the center a bonfire.

We park our bikes close by and start a hell of a fire. Maddie pulls out her phone and turns on some music while Ada Jade pulls out some papers and starts rolling a joint.
